December is here! I cannot believe that the holiday season is upon us. I absolutely love this time of the year even though it’s so crazy. I love all of the lights and decorations. I mean, who doesn’t?
So as I’m sure most of you know, I got engaged this past May and we just had our engagement session in Newport in the fall. We have so many amazing photos and I was trying to think of what to do with them. Then an idea came to my mind: ornaments!
I’ve created this blog post so that you can create these really easy photo ornaments. If you happen to make these, leave me a photo in the comments. Enjoy!
- Wood blocks (or already made ornaments!)
- Mod Podge
- Foam brush
- Drill (if you will be using the wooden blocks)
The first thing you will want to do is trace the shape of the wooden block or ornament on your photos. This will ensure that the photo will fit on your ornament. Once you’ve traced the shape, use the scissors and cut the photo. I cut the photo a little bit smaller so that some of the wood would show.
Put Mod Podge on the wood. It will look a little white, but don’t worry, it dries clear.
Place the photo on the wood. Then use Mod Podge all over the photo. Don’t forget the corners because you don’t want the photo to lift when it’s drying.
Let the ornaments dry for an hour. You’ll notice they are dry when the Mod Podge is clear.
If you used wooden blocks, you’ll want to drill a small hole in the top. Then, you’ll place ribbon through the hole and tie it with a knot. (I’m waiting for my fiance to come home since he has the drill, but you get the idea!)
Display these beautiful ornaments on your tree, around your house or give them as gifts.
