The title of this blog post may make you a bit confused, but it’s true. Breast cancer has made me experience so many opportunities that I never thought was possible. It’s hard to believe that something so awful, has led to amazing experiences.
One recent experience was a few weeks ago. Never in a million years did I think I would walk in a fashion show. On March 9th, I walked in Komen’s Catwalk for the Cure and it was so much fun. The crowd was amazing and I felt like a model. (Watch out Heidi Klum!)
Being someone who doesn’t like attention, I never thought I would do something like this. However, breast cancer has pushed me out of my comfort zone and I’ve realized that things I may not like, I actually love, like walking in a fashion show and photo shoots!
My dress was designed just for me by the talented Joe Malaika. I mean, how cool is this to have a dress that no one else has worn before and just for me!
Before the event, a video played featuring myself and some other survivors and co-survivors. Watch my story below.
Going through chemo, surgeries and radiation was definitely not fun. However, walking in this fashion show was simply amazing. Breast cancer has given me so many opportunities and I will never let something pass me be without trying it once. Who knows, maybe I’ll walk in New York Fashion Week next!
